About the role

Support manufacturing operations by assisting with investigations, conducting technical evaluations, statistical process control, designing of experiments, technology transfer and driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

  • Support scientific investigations related to enzyme manufacturing processes in collaboration with technologists and production staff, ensuring investigations are planned, coordinated cross-functionally, and executed effectively.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and provide timely solutions to maintain smooth manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee pilot plant operations, executing trials with varying parameters to determine optimal conditions.
  • Design experiments, analyze data, and present results.
  • Lead process scale-up and transfer activities to the Tlalnepantla site.
  • Improve efficiency in upstream and downstream processes.
  • Prepare monthly and annual yield reports for fermentation, liquid, and powder processes.
  • Collaborate with site functions—Supply Chain, Planning, Food Safety, Quality Control, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs—to support process transfers.
  • Lead major process investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Deliver technical training on processes and technologies as required by projects.
  • Optimize parameters in upstream and downstream processes, including media/feed strategies, cell culture scale-up, and primary recovery.
  • Evaluate and optimize processes to enhance yield, productivity, and product quality.
  • Interact with external vendors and partners to assist in technology transfer.
  • Present experimental results and new project updates at departmental meetings.
  • Lead HACCP and biosafety review meetings.

Qualifications and skills

  • Education: Minimum B.Sc., B.E., or M.Sc./M.Eng. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Process Engineering, or equivalent (e.g., Industrial Chemistry with strong biotechnology focus).
  • Experience: 5–10 years in Biotechnology, Food, or Pharmaceutical industries in process development or engineering.
  • Expertise in microbial fermentation (yeast, bacterial, and fungal).
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting updates and preparing technical reports.
  • Proven problem-solving and project management skills, including leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects.
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends.
  • Advanced English proficiency for professional communication and report presentation, as meetings will be conducted in English.
