About the role
The Inventory/Parts Clerk supports the operation of a food processing facility by managing, organizing, and tracking parts, supplies, and maintenance materials essential for production equipment and facility operations. This role ensures proper inventory levels, maintains accurate records, follows food safety and sanitation guidelines, and provides timely support to maintenance and production teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced working in a regulated production environment.
Key responsibilities
- Inventory Management.
- Define reorder points, maximum and minimum safety stock levels.
- Define criticality in spare parts (A, B, C).
- Maintain accurate and compliant inventory counts through regular cycle counts and audits.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts, materials, and supplies against purchase orders and quality requirements.
- Ensure all parts are stored properly to prevent contamination and comply with food safety practices (e.g., separation of lubricants, chemicals, and sanitation supplies).
- Monitor stock levels of critical parts such as bearings, belts, food-grade lubricants, PPE, and sanitation supplies.
- Identify and report discrepancies, low stock, or non-conforming materials.
- Organize and clean the parts warehouse.
- Issue parts and materials to maintenance technicians and production supervisors as needed.
- Prepare and stage parts for scheduled preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Assist in sourcing, ordering, and expediting parts from approved suppliers while adhering to facility procurement procedures.
- Track usage of high-demand or high-value parts and assist with developing re-order strategies.
- Follow all food safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and facility sanitation protocols when handling inventory.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and inventory software.
- Ensure proper labeling and safe storage of chemicals, lubricants, and replacement parts.
- Support audits by maintaining organized and up-to-date inventory records.
- Communicate with vendors regarding availability, lead times, pricing, and returns.
- Assist maintenance and production personnel in identifying necessary parts for equipment repairs or upgrades.
- Process warranty claims and return authorizations as needed.
Qualifications and skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in inventory, logistics, or maintenance is a plus.
- Experience in inventory control, parts room management, or maintenance support—preferably in a food processing, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Fiix, eMaint, SAP, or similar).
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical parts used in food processing equipment is a plus.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory software, data entry).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
- Ability to lift/move items typically 25–50 lbs and work in production or warehouse environments requiring PPE.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $64,479 - $105,272 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition, this position is also eligible to earn a performance-based incentive compensation.
