About the role

Located just outside of Chicago, our Melrose Park location is part of our Meat division and creates batter blends, pastry blends, and bread crumbs. We are a fast paced, never a dull moment manufacturing facility that comes together as a team to get the job done. With a growing portfolio, comes need to grow our team! The starting wage for this role is $36.54 per hour.  This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime.   In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).   

 

The shift for this role is: Tuesday to Saturday 7am-3pm

Key responsibilities

The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks across our facilities. This role supports daily operations by ensuring building systems, equipment, infrastructure, and compressed air systems are functioning correctly, safely, and in compliance with applicable standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•  Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and compressed air systems

•  Troubleshoot and maintain compressed air systems, including air compressors, dryers, filters, and distribution piping

•  Respond to work orders and perform general repairs (e.g., doors, windows, lighting, furniture, minor construction)

•  Assist in maintaining grounds and exterior areas (e.g., landscaping, snow removal, parking lot upkeep)

•  Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment

•  Work with vendors, contractors, and internal departments to support facility upgrades and projects

•  Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations

•  Support office moves, setups, and space planning activities

•  Document all maintenance activities in the CMMS or maintenance logs

•  Assist during emergency situations, including building evacuations and system failures

Qualifications and skills

Qualifications

Required:

•  High school diploma, GED, or certificate from a skilled trades school

•  4+ years of facilities, building maintenance, or related experience

•  Experience maintaining and troubleshooting compressed air systems (industrial air compressors, dryers, etc.)

•  Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems

•  Basic carpentry and painting skills

•  Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals

•  Valid driver's license

•  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks

Preferred:

•  Technical certifications (e.g., HVAC, Electrical, OSHA, Compressed Air Systems)

•  Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

•  Familiarity with safety procedures and building codes

Skills & Competencies:

•  Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially with air compressor and mechanical systems

•  Excellent time management and organizational abilities

•  Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance

•  Good communication and teamwork skills

•  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
