About the role

Reports directly to : EHS Engineer
Works closely with: Production, Engineering, QA, Maintenance teams and contractors and external authorities when required

 

  • Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
  • To develop and ensure that all EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to EHS and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, risk assessments and self-safety working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Establish a full programme of documented EHS inspections, audits and checks.
  • Establish a structured programme of EHS training throughout the Company and liaise with external EHS consultants in the provision of training programmes and services.
  • Ensure full and accurate EHS training records are maintained.
  • Manage and devise the agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the EHS Committee meetings. Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant EHS & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
  • Provide regular reports to the Management Team on relevant EHS activities.
  • Waste water management.
  • Liaise with suppliers i.e., Insurers, solicitors etc.
  • Any other duties may assigned by superior from time to time.

Key responsibilities

Education Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in:

  • Occupational Safety & Health
  • Environmental Health
  • Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental)
  • Industrial Safety or related discipline
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with DOSH Malaysia (e.g. SHO – Green Book) is an advantage.
  • Professional Certifications (Preferred / Advantage)
  • Certified Environmental Professional (CePSWaM, CePIETSO) is an added advantage
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in an EHS role, preferably in:
  • Manufacturing, food & beverage, chemical, or FMCG industry

Qualifications and skills

Hands-on experience with:

  • Plant safety inspections and audits
  • Permit‑to‑Work systems (e.g. confined space, hot work, work at height)
  • Incident investigation and corrective action tracking
  • Contractor safety management
  • Waste water treatment plant


Technical & Regulatory Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Malaysia EHS legislation, including but not limited to:
  • OSHA 1994
  • FMA 1967
  • Environmental Quality Act 1974

Familiar with:

  • Risk assessment methodologies (HIRARC, JSA)
  • Environmental monitoring (waste, wastewater, emissions, chemical management)
  • Emergency response procedures and drills
  • ISO management systems such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong safety observation and hazard identification skills
  • Ability to conduct EHS training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Good and effective communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Effective interpersonal skills to engage operators, contractors, and management
  • Good report writing, documentation, and data analysis skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proactive, hands‑on, and able to work independently on the shop floor
  • Strong attention to detail and follow‑up discipline
  • Willingness to respond to emergencies and support shift or weekend activities when required
