About the role

Operates machinery or work manually to perform packaging functions such as filling, capping, labeling, or coding containers by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Must have a strong knowledge in the operations of Drexel swing-mast forklift for gathering all the necessary ingredients for production use.
  • Starts and stops machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, adjusting weights, or clearing jammed or damaged materials.
  • Feeds containers to conveyors, or other feeding devices, and unloads packaged product.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as caps, lids, cartons, glue, ink, or labels.
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process.
  • Inserts or pours product into containers or fills containers from spout or chute.
  • Weighs containers and adjusts quantity. Records weight accuracy information on form and adjusts filler as needed.
  • Tapes, closes, or seals containers. Labels containers.
  • Tallies number of units of product packaged and records material and labor used.
  • Works at different work stations as production needs require.
  • Cleans equipment or machinery after each product is run, using a brush, air hose, or water with or without a detergent solution.
  • May be required to sanitize the equipment with approved chemicals.
  • Follows all prescribed safety procedures and quality checks.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Key responsibilities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school education or equivalent; one or more years’ experience in process manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
