Quality Control Lead

At Niacet, part of Kerry, quality is at the heart of everything we do. As QC Lead Laboratory, you will lead our laboratory team in Tiel and play a key role in ensuring the quality and compliance of products supplied to customers across the food and pharmaceutical industries.

This is a hands-on leadership role where scientific expertise, people management and continuous improvement come together. You will oversee laboratory operations, support product release decisions, drive investigations and ensure that testing activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety and regulatory compliance.

About the role

As QC Lead, you will be responsible for the daily management and performance of the laboratory while fostering a culture of accuracy, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing the laboratory team.
  • Managing laboratory planning, priorities and workload distribution.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished products and non-routine samples.
  • Reviewing analytical results and making release, approval or rejection decisions in line with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Coordinating investigations, root cause analyses and corrective actions related to deviations or non-conformances.
  • Managing relationships with external laboratories for specialist testing activities.
  • Ensuring accurate laboratory documentation, specifications, certificates of analysis and customer quality documentation.
  • Maintaining and improving analytical methods, laboratory procedures and validation activities.
  • Ensuring laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Supporting internal, customer, supplier and external audits.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within laboratory operations and the quality management system.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, GMP, FDA and internal quality requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with Production, ESHQ, Sales and other stakeholders to support business objectives and customer expectations.
 

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Several years of experience within an analytical, quality control or industrial laboratory environment.
  • Experience leading or coordinating laboratory teams.
  • Strong knowledge of physical and chemical analytical testing methods.
  • Experience with investigations, deviations, CAPAs and audit activities.
  • Experience developing, improving or validating analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Knowledge of GMP, FDA expectations and quality management systems.
  • Experience within the food, pharmaceutical, chemical or ingredients industry is an advantage.
