Key responsibilities
- Prepare tax provisions schedules, returns, payments, reports and maintain a company’s tax database
- Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns for China entities, including but not limited to Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Value-Added Tax (VAT), withholding taxes, and other local surcharges
- Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work
- Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
- Liaise with tax authorities arising from local business activities and transactions.
- Identify, assess and manage tax risks arising from business operations, transactions and organizational changes. Proactively recommend practical solutions to ensure compliance and minimize tax exposure.
- Support and coordinate tax audits, tax inspections, tax inquiries and information requests from local tax authorities. Prepare supporting documentation and manage audit responses to minimize tax exposures.
- Support transfer pricing compliance requirements, including preparation of related-party transaction disclosures, local file requirements, benchmarking support and coordination with external advisors.
- Partner with Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain and Shared Services teams to assess tax implications of business initiatives and support implementation of tax-efficient and compliant operating models. Support tax policy analysis and implementation projects as directed by tax manager
- Support tax due diligence, post-acquisition integration activities and tax compliance matters relating to acquisitions and restructuring projects as directed by the Tax Manager. Drive continuous improvement of tax processes, controls and reporting through automation, data analytics and effective use of ERP systems.
- Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications.
- Other tasks assigned by line manager.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor's degree with financial relevant background, ACCA/CPA qualified or technically proficient will be a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of PRC tax laws and regulations, international tax experience is an advantage
- 3-5 years of relevant tax experience in Big 4 and/or multinational corporations. Experience in manufacturing, food ingredients or FMCG industries is advantageous. Excellent analytical skill and using the data to make business recommendations
- Advanced Excel and data analytics skills required. Experience with SAP, SAP BW/AFO, Power BI and large-volume data analysis is highly desirable.
