About the role

 

Work Location:         Plentong, Johor
Reporting To:           Senior Research Scientist
Working Hours:        8.30am – 5.30pm 


The Food Technologist will assist the team to carry out all RDA activities that are a vital part of development and application. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the development of innovative food solutions from concept through commercialization, working closely with cross-functional teams, manufacturing sites, and customers. The successful candidate will gain exposure to product development, application testing, process optimization, and scale-up activities across various food categories, including sauces, dressings, marinades, and other savoury applications.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Support product improvement initiatives and new product development projects by conducting laboratory trials, evaluations, and technical assessments.
  • Execute application testing, feasibility studies, and pilot plant or production-scale trials to validate product performance.
  • Prepare product samples for customer evaluations, presentations, and technical demonstrations.
  • Evaluate raw materials and ingredients, assessing their functionality, performance, and suitability for various food applications.
  • Assist in the development of innovative and cost-effective food solutions that meet customer expectations and business objectives.
  • Participate in New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept development through factory scale-up and commercialization.
  • Conduct laboratory and pilot plant trials to optimize product quality, functionality, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, trial reports, specifications, and project records.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, Regulatory, and Commercial teams.
  • Support customer-focused projects, technical presentations, and troubleshooting activities where required.
  • Build technical expertise in food ingredients, processing technologies, and manufacturing systems.

 

Qualifications and skills

 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant internships, final-year projects, or laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with 1–2 years of experience in food product development, applications, R&D, or food manufacturing environments are also welcome.
  • Exposure to HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, or other food safety and quality management systems is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of food formulation, ingredient functionality, and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience through internships, research projects, academic coursework, or industry experience.
  • Familiarity with common laboratory equipment, testing methods, and analytical techniques is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for food innovation and product development.
  • Willingness to travel to Kerry's Singapore office on a monthly basis and/or as business needs arise to support RDA projects, cross-functional collaboration, customer activities, and technical development initiatives.
